The idea for Half-Moon Fried Pies was borne out of a dinner party held on January 23, which is National Pie Day. I made fried pies on a whim and they were met with such an enthusiastic response that I decided to open a booth at a local farmer's market. The positive response continued, and I have expanded my menu to include both traditional and non-traditional flavors. I don't eat anything without thinking "I wonder how this could be made into a fried pie?"
